In , Cudi was featured on the soundtrack to the film The Hunger Games, crafting an original song for the film titled "The Ruler and the Killer". While working on the band's self-titled debut, Cudi claimed he had writer's block for almost five months because of his new sobriety; something that had never happened to him for such an extended period of time.
In April , in Geneseo, New York, Cudi performed before a sold-out crowd and premiered a hip hop song, his first since During his set, he performed a new record, tentatively titled "The Leader of the Delinquents", which he did a cappella.
